Teleworking

1. Identify which employees will be working from home.

Some positions or job types in your business may be better suited for work outside the office than others. Look for employees who do not require constant oversight to preform their work.

2. Conduct a Testing Period.

Measure the progress of select employees over the course of a few weeks to see how they adapt to teleworking. Acquire feedback from these employees to discover the pros and cons for them. In addition, get feedback from non-telecommuting employees.

3. Provide office technology for employees teleworking.

Make sure that your employees have access to all the tools that they require to work from home, and to be able to easily contact other employees, including yourself. Computer, phone, email, video chat-if needed, Google docs- to quickly share files.

4. Check in with your employees.

Make sure that goals are set and met for employees. Checking in once or twice a week to ensure productivity is a necessity. At the same time though, you do not want to be constantly bothering them.
